With the slogan ‘Pushing the Limits for Better’, the team consists of the reigning masters, Nasser Al-Attiyah and co-driver Mathieu Baumel; South African Rally-Raid champion Giniel de Villiers and co-driver Dennis Murphy and the team of Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings. Many people aren’t aware that the Toyota Dakar vehicles are built by hand in Midrand, South Africa by Hallspeed. They are tested under extreme conditions (including in the Namibian dunes) that mimic the expected race conditions and tweaked until perfected. Safety is a key factor, and everything is tested to the highest standards from roll cages to seats to seat belts to helmets and fireproof clothing, making the race experience as safe as can be. The extreme conditions of the Dakar rally means that cars are often rebuilt overnight.
